Job Description
The company is a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a Senior Data Governance Manager / Data Governance Lead to join our team. We are on an exciting journey to scale our Data and Analytics capabilities to enable better data-driven decision making across the business. This is a multi-faceted role meant to build and enable a fit-for-purpose Data Governance program that has the right balance between controls and flexibility.
The ideal candidate is someone with a curious personality, strong understanding of data governance frameworks, policies and strong focus understanding business needs and operations. They will also have a background in knowledge management to help build and accelerate a data-centric culture.
What You’ll Do
- Support the rollout and adoption of a new Data Governance operating model while actively engaging, educating, and collaborating with the Data Stewardship community.
- Manage the data lifecycle, including access, classification, storage, retention, and deletion, to ensure data integrity, security, and compliance.
- Partner with the Data Office and Data Stewards, working closely with data owners to maintain governance standards and resolve data-related issues.
- Foster a strong data-centric culture across the organization.
- Translate complex data risks into clear business implications and actionable insights for leadership and key stakeholders.
- Define and execute short- and long-term strategies to improve data integrity, consistency, quality, and usability.
- Lead data governance initiatives and cross-functional projects from strategy through execution.
- Leverage Data Governance tools to develop and maintain data catalogs, data lineage, and metadata management processes, enabling easy and reliable access to data assets.
- Develop and lead training programs to upskill key Data Governance roles and strengthen data literacy across the organization.
- Create and maintain tools, guides, templates, and other resources that empower stakeholders to maintain and improve data quality.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of Data Governance initiatives and regularly report on progress, outcomes, and opportunities for improvement.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Your experience should include:
- 8+ years of experience across data management and data governance roles, preferably within a SaaS environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience designing and implementing data governance frameworks within large, complex organizations.
- Strong knowledge of industry-leading data governance practices, including experience selecting and implementing appropriate tools and technologies.
- Deep understanding of the full data lifecycle and associated governance requirements.
- Knowledge of data privacy and regulatory requirements, including GDPR, CCPA, and similar legislation.
- Proficiency in SQL with the ability to analyze datasets, identify trends, and derive actionable insights.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Results-oriented mindset with a track record of driving projects to completion and collaborating effectively across organizational boundaries.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work in a timely manner.
- Experience with business process modeling and facilitating cross-functional workshops.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and build strong relationships across both business and technical teams.
- Passion for AI and a demonstrated interest in leveraging AI to improve productivity, accelerate workflows, and drive better outcomes.
