Inclusively is partnering with a pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporation to hire a Director, Global Media Relations. **Please note: this role is NOT an internal position with Inclusively but with the partner company.**

ROLE SUMMARY

The Director of Global Media Relations leads media relations strategy and day-to-day execution for our company commercial and brand teams. The Director will be a strategic partner in helping shape the public or stakeholder perception of our company through proactive media engagement and risk mitigation strategies that will increase public understanding of our work to:

  • Deliver first-in-class science
  • Bring medicines to the world faster
  • Improve patient health
  • Reduce healthcare disparities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of Global Media Relations will work closely with our cross-functional colleagues to ensure that external communications plans for key product launches, important pipeline milestones, reputation initiatives, brand public relations campaigns, and anticipated issues include a robust and appropriate earned media strategy. He/she will also work with related executives on executing those strategies.

Further, the Director will uncover/identify compelling content for earned media storytelling opportunities more broadly and the placement of them in high-impact media outlets, including those that may be new and/or emerging in today’s dynamic news environment. He/she will continually discover and develop relationships with a variety of earned media outlets and journalists, and he/she will use that knowledge to provide insights on successful engagement strategies. The Director will dedicate themselves to educating business, health, and especially consumer media on the burden of diseases that our company portfolio addresses and the Company’s commitment to patients’ unmet needs.

The Director will arrange and staff interviews with our scientists, executives, and spokespeople, including third parties the Company may engage, preparing them for successful media engagements.

The position reports to the Vice President, Global Media Relations and is based at the Company headquarters in New York City.

As a member of the Global Media Relations team, he/she will help further the implementation of an integrated, long-term corporate media strategy that includes and will:

  • Serve as a functional media relations expert to all Corporate Affairs colleagues and help to build earned media understanding among all
  • Manage organizational interaction and relationships with earned media, including reporters, editors and digital publishers
  • Work with the business divisions and/or functions to develop specific plans to address key opportunities and issues/crisis effectively
  • Contribute to our company digital and social media platforms, work with media outlets on their social media content as well as the work of our Digital team
  • Position our company as a global leader in improving patient health
  • Influence the operating environment by gaining coverage for our/industry perspectives on important and complex issues and/or current affairs
  • Coordinate with regional counterparts (LatAm, EUAfME and AsiaPac) on local matters or global ones with local implications
  • Coordinate with Legal and Regulatory to ensure alignment on key issues that broadly affect our company
  • Work effectively in cross-functional teams to advance communications strategy

QUALIFICATIONS

MUST-HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • 7+ years of experience in media relations and communications, including experience with a pharmaceutical, biotech, medical, or other related research environment.
  • Must possess a track record of quality story placements among top-tier, trade, broadcast, and other relevant media.
  • Solid experience in dealing with significant healthcare issues management.
  • A strong, demonstrated record of collaboration is critical.
  • A strong, demonstrated record of achieving superior business results in the digital environment are required.
  • Excellent presentation skills, and persuasiveness are mandatory.
  • A strong, demonstrated record of assuming ownership of results is also required.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage pressure, meet deadlines and monitor and evaluate results.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

NICE-TO-HAVE:

  • A particular specialty in consumer and oncology media is preferred as is an agency background.
  • Candidates must be able to demonstrate success in working with all levels of senior corporate management.
  • Day-to-day direction, by the nature of the business, must be self-initiated.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in our Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program. Our compensation structures and benefit packages are aligned based on the location of hire. The United States salary range provided does not apply to Tampa, FL or any location outside of the United States.
