About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic tech start-up team at Workera. As a Senior Accountant, you will be instrumental in managing corporate accounting, month-end close functions, and overseeing day-to-day financial operations. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and internal policies. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape financial processes, leverage emerging technologies, and contribute to the company’s strategic growth. Your expertise will support Workera’s mission to empower enterprises globally through our cutting-edge skills intelligence platform.

About your team
You will join a small but high-impact finance team dedicated to excellence and continuous improvement. Working closely with the Director of Finance, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of our financial processes. This team environment offers the chance to shape processes and grow alongside the company.

What You’ll Do:

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Take full ownership of the company’s corporate accounting and month-end close functions, including variance reporting, account reconciliations, revenue recognition, and journal entry review and approval.
  • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense approvals, reimbursements, and commission calculations.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial statements and reports for stakeholders, including the board, management team, employees, and external parties.

Within 6 months, you will:

  • Lead the annual audit process, coordinating with external firms to ensure the timely and accurate completion of all audit requirements.
  • Formulate and recommend policies, procedures, and control systems to ensure the accuracy and security of accounting data.
  • Develop and monitor internal financial control structures, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.

Within 9 months, you will:

  • Oversee all accounting-related systems, continuously seeking improvements and applying new technologies to enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with FP&A to provide critical annual budgeting and forecasting input.
  • Demonstrate significant contributions to the financial strategy and operational efficiency of the organization.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with 2+ years at tech start-up environment.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and tax regulations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Extensive experience in and knowledge of ASC 606.
  • 2+ years of experience using QuickBooks and Salesforce.
  • Experience as an external auditor or leading internal audits.
  • Proficiency in utilizing AI tools such as ChatGPT or equivalent digital assistants, applying them effectively within your work context.
