The Mom Project is excited to partner with a well-established CPA firm located near Chicago, IL. We are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant to join their growing team. This opportunity is available on either a full-time or part-time basis, depending on the needs of the candidate.

This role offers exceptional flexibility and a true family-first culture. While there is hybrid flexibility, candidates must be local to the area and able to work onsite at least 2-3 days per week. The firm values face-to-face collaboration and relationship building, while providing flexibility to accommodate family and personal commitments.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review individual (1040), partnership (1065), corporate (1120), S-Corporation (1120S), and trust tax returns
  • Research tax issues and apply current tax laws and regulations to client situations
  • Work directly with clients to gather information, answer questions, and provide tax-related guidance
  • Manage multiple client engagements while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality work
  • Identify tax planning opportunities and potential risks for clients
  • Communicate in a timely, accurate, positive, and professional manner
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure client needs are met and deadlines are achieved
  • Proactively identify process improvements and opportunities to enhance efficiency
  • Support a diverse client base, including business owners, high-net-worth individuals, trusts, franchises, and other complex tax entities

Skills

  • Strong experience preparing and reviewing tax returns, including 1040, 1065, 1120, 1120S, and Trust returns
  • Thorough knowledge of tax regulations, professional standards, and evolving tax laws
  • Ability to communicate complex tax concepts clearly to clients and colleagues
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with CCH Axcess is a plus
  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus

Education

  • Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
