Our Customer is a consumer financial services company headquartered in Connecticut. The company offers consumer financing products, including credit, promotional financing and loyalty programs, installment lending to industries, and FDIC-insured consumer savings products through the consumer bank, its wholly owned online bank subsidiary.

We are seeking a Network Security Consultant on a contract basis to support a critical migration initiative moving key applications and workloads to the AWS public cloud. This role will work closely with application teams, the security architecture group, and the perimeter defense team to define and implement network security requirements that ensure secure and compliant cloud adoption.

This role is hybrid (3 days remote and 2 days on-site/week) in any of the following locations: Charlotte, NC, Alpharetta, GA, and Cincinnati, OH.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to gather and analyze network security requirements, including connectivity, allowed ports, protocols, and data flows
• Translate application requirements into detailed and actionable network security policies and firewall rules
• Design and validate AWS network security architecture using Security Groups, Network ACLs, and integration with Palo Alto firewall policies
• Partner with perimeter defense and security operations teams to streamline firewall rule discovery, approval, and deployment processes
• Document cloud network security best practices and standards, including guidance on when to use Palo Alto controls versus AWS native controls
• Support discovery and planning activities for cloud migrations to ensure all network security dependencies are captured
• Troubleshoot and optimize existing cloud network security configurations to improve performance and security posture
  
  

Skills And Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in network security architecture or engineering, preferably in cloud environments (AWS preferred)
• Strong understanding of network security controls, including firewalls, VPN, layered defense models, Security Groups, and Network ACLs
• Hands-on experience with Palo Alto firewalls preferred
• Proven ability to translate application connectivity needs into firewall rules and secure network designs
• Strong knowledge of AWS networking components, including VPCs, subnets, route tables, and Transit Gateways (TGWs)
• Experience working in Agile or DevSecOps environments alongside application teams
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to document and present technical concepts clearly
• Ability to work independently and drive results in fast-paced environments
• AWS certifications such as Security Specialty or Solutions Architect preferred
• Experience with firewall policy management and automation tools preferred
• Experience in financial services or highly regulated industries preferred
